How long is the process? +

Yes, however this will require booking a three-hour story-telling session. You and your partner will have an hour of sharing your story individually and then have an hour together. We will then package your stories into one book.

Can a family member sit in on the interview? +

We prefer this to be your time to tell your story in your own way, without having any distractions or input from family members.

Is there a payment plan? +

Yes. There is a 50% deposit paid at the beginning and the remaining 50% is paid when you have your book review (step 5)

How long is the story-telling session? +

In our standard package, we ask that you block out a morning or an afternoon to tell your story. If you decide you need more time at the end of the session, we will be happy to book you in for another session.

Why do I have to fill in the pre-kit? +

The pre-kit is a crucial and wonderful tool for you and your host to use prior to your story-telling session. It not only allows your host to prepare and have a small understanding of your background, but may also spark some interesting stories for you to share during your session. It is also a great tool for clarifying spelling of significant names and places.

Who will interview me? +

We have a range of very friendly hosts at Book in a Day who are all experts in capturing the stories of individuals. One of these hosts will be assigned to your session.

What do I need to bring/provide? +

Apart from yourself, please bring all the photos (up to 60) that you would like incorporated into your book so that we can scan them and give the originals back to you.

Do I have to pay on the day? +

We require a 50% deposit when you sign up and then the remaining 50% to be paid when you have your book review. No payment is required when you have your story telling session.

Why is there a 50% deposit? +

There is a lot of time and work that goes into preparing, capturing and packaging your book. This work starts as soon as you sign up, therefore it is important for us to know that you are committed.

Do I get to see/review the book before it is printed? +

Yes, there is one review included in your package. It is important to ensure the content is factually correct and the images chosen are correct.

What are the ‘upgrade options?’ +

We have a number of upgrade options that incur an additional cost. If you are interested in any of them, we will quote you separately. Some of the upgrades include:

What is involved and the cost for a business, school or town? +

We provide a no-obligatory tailored quote for any interested school, business or town. All you have to do is contact us via email, phone or send an enquiry.

How long can I take to review my book? +

At our office, we sit down and go through the book with you (typically for an hour) and then you can take it home for up to TWO WEEKS to have a proper read and show any family members. You will be able to mark up any changes and notes for us and then mail it back to us (we provide you with a tracked mail bag). We can do the review at your place for an additional cost.
