Why capturing your loved one’s voice is so Important

Why capturing your loved one’s voice is so Important

It is often said that the first thing you forget about a person is their voice.

Imagine being able to hear your parent’s or grandparent’s voice in 50 years time, and have your grandchildren hear their great grandparent’s voice to learn who they were, allowing them to form a connection with them.

This is the power of capturing and recording your loved one’s story.

Recording a loved one’s story may not seem like a priority right now, however it is an investment to your future generations (and your future self) as it will be a source of invaluable knowledge, connection and love.

A person’s voice reflects their character and reveals the essence and tone of their personality, something you can’t learn from photos. An article by Jacob Terranova shares that the power of hearing a loved one’s voice can make a greater impact on you than photos, clothing, or other mementos.

We have found even small recordings can be precious, such as a loved one singing, telling their infamous joke, or simply providing some loving advice. However, capturing their life story in a warm and engaging way is the most invaluable as it allows you to understand and connect with them on a deeper level, as well as build their pride and dignity for what they have accomplished.

At My Word, we are here to empower families to better connect, so if you have been thinking about this but not sure where to start, check out the following:
